Cheryl grew up in Ohio and Grand Rapids. She attended Lake Superior State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology with minors in chemistry and education. She began her career teaching high school in Detroit before relocating back to Grand Rapids with her husband, Dave. She later returned to school at Western Michigan University to earn a Master of Social Work and went on to work in Community Mental Health.
Cheryl then felt called to ministry within the Catholic Church, beginning in youth ministry and later serving as a Pastoral Associate. Since 2008, she has served in parish ministry at St. Pius X in Grandville and St. Patrick in Parnell.
She and her family—her husband Dave and daughter Josie—live in Lowell and are members of St. Patrick in Parnell.
