Hope for Haiti
Saint Thomas’ international outreach includes a partnership with Hope for Haiti in support of their mission to rebuild and empower healthy, sustainable communities after the devastation of natural disasters. Through our parish tithe, Hope for Haiti receives a monthly contribution that supports their program areas of Education, Healthcare, Water and Economic Inequality and increases the impact of their poverty alleviation programs. We are excited to share this look at the new school in the community of Morency, funded by our long-time partner, The Herbert and Nell Singer Foundation. The 12-classroom block is located in southern Haiti near the epicenter of last year’s earthquake, and has a cafeteria, computer lab, and sanitation block, all powered by solar panels.
International partner, Amazon Relief, cares for the poorest of the poor by working with the Franciscan community in Brazil. Together they assist victims of Leprosy, help families breakout of poverty and educate at-risk children. Through our parish tithe, Amazon Relief receives a monthly contribution that supports their religious, educational and humanitarian programs and spreads the love of God in the Amazon jungle.
