A Century of Blessings
For the next 6 weeks we will be counting down to our 100th Anniversary Mass celebration on October 18 by listing our SAINT THOMAS blessings.
T – Ted Coon – Mr. Ted has been the Director of Maintenance for nearly 40 years of our 100 year history. Ted was hired by Father Cusack in February 1986 at the very young age of 21. The committee was looking for someone who would stay and grow with the Parish. With superhero characteristics, Mr. Ted oversees 83,000 sq ft of buildings, plus the immense grounds on campus. “Every day is different.” His favorite aspect of his long term job is when alumni come back to visit, and especially when alumni become part of the staff.

Pray for our Priests Tuesday, September 23 The priests of the diocese attend a retreat together every fall. This fall convocation is an important time away from their parishes to build camaraderie, pray together, engage in continuing formation and celebrate milestone anniversaries. Let us gather as a Catholic community during this time to pray for our shepherds. At Saint Thomas you may attend Eucharistic Adoration between 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Go to GRdiocese.org to find open times for prayer in other churches across the diocese.

The USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities invites Catholics to join a focused effort of prayer to stop taxpayer funding of the abortion industry. Please consider taking a moment to pray this prayer daily through Oct. 1, the beginning of Respect Life Month. Dearest St. Joseph, at the word of an angel, you lovingly took Mary into your home. As God’s humble servant, you guided the Holy Family on the road to Bethlehem, welcomed Jesus as your own son in the shelter of a manger, and fled far from your homeland for the safety of both Mother and Child. We praise God that as their faithful protector, you never hesitated to sacrifice for those entrusted to you. May your example inspire us also to welcome, cherish, and safeguard God’s most precious gift of life. Help us to faithfully commit ourselves to the service and defense of human life —especially where it is vulnerable or threatened. Obtain for us the grace to do the will of God in all things. Amen. Free online and print versions of the prayer are available at: usccb.org/prolife/nationwide-invitation-prayer
