100 Years of ABCs

T Usher’s Club – The Ushers Club which became a formal committee in the late 1940’s was not only responsible for ushering during Mass, but they also opened, verified, and counted the weekly envelopes. The men raised funds for the athletic program through annual fundraisers such as the flower sale on Mother’s Day and the annual “Men’s Night”, an evening of fun which enabled the men of the parish an opportunity to get to know one another better. After Vatican II, the role of the usher took on a new dimension in the revised liturgy. Higher priority began to be put on Welcoming and Hospitality. Beginning in the mid-80’s, women and couples were encouraged to take part in the Usher’s ministry. Today, ushering has become a family activity where children are welcomed to serve alongside their parent.

Join Pam Strobel and Mark Kennedy as we share a draft of the “Rooted in Christ” Pastoral Plan which proposes changes and new initiatives in the diocese. We have been asked to give our parishioners an opportunity to review, discuss, and respond.
