100 Years of ABCs
T Theatercrafters – In March 1961, a group of creative parishioners met with Father Noel Fay, assistant pastor, to form a group known as the “Theatercrafters”. The group put on many entertaining productions over the years complete with lights, costumes, props, and music. The first production staged was “The Mikado”. Others that followed included “Annie Get Your Gun”, “Finian’s Rainbow”, “The Music Man”, “Brigadoon”, “The Boy Friend”, “Where’s Charley”, “The Pajama Game”, “Deadwood Dick” and “Anything Goes”. Although the original goal was not financial, money was raised by the group to purchase and install stage dimmers, footlights, overhead lights, and spotlights. An extension to the stage was built by the group members and they also laid and finished the hardwood floor on the stage. They also made a significant contribution toward the installation of an acoustic tile ceiling and the painting of the auditorium. Later the sound system was perfected and coat racks were furnished and installed in the lobby.
